Guerilla Haiku’s San Antonian Residency!!

Artpace is an organization committed to bringing excellent local, national and international artists to San Antonio and giving them space and resources to create new work in the city (and engage the community in their process). They also organize one of the most ambitious community engagement efforts I have yet to experience: Chalk It Up, San Antonio. In this one-day-only event, tens of thousands of San Antonians come together to chalk up one of their major downtown streets. Artists make murals, teams from local schools and organizations create team pieces and everyone is invited to add to...

Guerilla Haiku Goes to Cleveland!

The Cleveland Public Theater (CPT) is one of those regional theaters that fully embrace their commitment to serving the needs of their community.  And the Gordon Square Arts District is the multi-organization consortium (including CPT) that  is revitalizing the Detroit-Shoreway  neighborhood of Cleveland. When Executive Artistic Director, Raymond Brobgan, contacted Guerilla Haiku in February to invite us to their yearly Party in Gordon Square to engage their Party-goers in Haiku-ing, I jumped at the chance.  What better effort to support and celebrate but the coming together of a...

The elder sister approached me and asked if she could write a sister-tribute. “I’ve been having a...

TeamBuilding USA as Texas Tour Sponsor

JT called me bright and early the morning of our big event in NYC last May. “Liz and I are in town, what are you up to?” he boomed in his jolly voice.  Did I have an option for him!   Two hours later  he and Liz became members of Team West Village in the most ambitious Guerilla Haiku Event yet organized.  They covered their neighborhood, involving a ton of random New Yorkers in Haikuing (including the two Argentinian basketball players featured here), and by closing ceremony, they were hooked: “You are coming to Dallas,” JT stated.   He wasn’t kidding. JT is...

Spring Event Dates

Spring’s emerging – but a March spent further South – Speeds it all along. Oh dear, Ladies and Gentlemen, winter is purportedly in full swing (though you wouldn’t think so with all of the no-jacket wearing happening in the Northeast right now), and Guerilla Haiku is gearing up for it’s second season of haiku adventures.  Hooray! On the Agenda: New Orleans and Orange, NJ and Manhattan, with Boston and another stint in Philadelphia in serious contemplation.  Give us reasons to head your way, and we shall endeavor to do it! But first- New Orleans.  Oh the magic...
