Some groups were made for Guerilla Haiku, and this crew in Orange, NJ was one such group. From the moment the chalk came out, until the Cake (with a haiku frosted upon it) was cut and consumed- they elevated the haiku experience.
First off, Hands Inc does community revitalization in Orange, NJ. One of their projects is ORNG Ink, a youth program providing arts education and mentorship for talented and artistic youth from the area. These youth ROCK. And they headed up 4 groups to cover 4 neighborhoods in Orange in haiku.
Thirty Agents set out and engaged over 100 people, ages 3-72 in haikuing the surfaces of their city. They told of kids leaving their bikes and basketballs in playgrounds to follow them down the streets, writing. Magical.
I hope it doesn’t rain for a long time. We want the poetry to last.
