September 3rd, 2011: Oh, the City of Brotherly Love! We started our tour in this East Coast metropolis and were astounded by the spirit of adventure and play in this town.
Old, young, ferrets and non-ferrets alike got in on the haiku action. Cassie Owens, of City Paper covered our outing with her lovely prose. And we had a merry band of poets take on the town. After an amazing beginning at Rittenhouse Square, Team Queen’s Village and Team Old Town chalked the town in haiku. On Day 2, a set of poets frolicked through Fishtown and Northern Liberties. We can’t wait to return to Philadelphia!

The Haiku Mistress
Actor and educator, Caley Vickerman, discovered haiku in 6th grade and they remain to this day a favorite method of expression; simple, precise and immeasurably powerful. It became her fervent wish to create events that celebrated haiku (and humanity). Thus the Guerilla Haiku Movement was born! …And the Haiku Mistress gratefully continues to celebrate! 
We are the Guerilla Haiku Movement; a cadre of artists, fun-lovers, and fools that use sidewalk chalk and the ancient Japanese poetic tradition of Haiku to tell our stories and the stories of our communities inside of one moment. Check out our events page to join us in a city near you!
