TeamBuilding USA, the sponsor for Guerilla Haiku’s Texas Tour is affiliated with the CityLife Youth Group and partnered me with them to facilitate an event in and around the Bedford, TX area. This dynamic and creative group of teens, teen leaders, and supportive adults wreaked haiku havoc in the malls, parks and sidewalks of Bedford and its environs. Our Closing Ceremony at the CityLife offices in Euless ended appropriately, with pizza (and a delivery-boy-written haiku) and the most amazing haiku cheer I have yet to experience. Thanks to the Dallas Flea, I had a place to start my Dallas adventures with ample inspiration! ProArts in Jersey City is an organization that cares about the intersection of Art and Community. Clearly they are kindred spirits! They host Quarterly Art Eat Up events where a number of artists present their projects to a host of assembled community members at a communal dinner. At the end of the evening everyone votes on one project that they want to support. And the profits from the evening go to fund the project with the most votes. The Haiku Mistress
Actor and educator, Caley Vickerman, discovered haiku in 6th grade and they remain to this day a favorite method of expression; simple, precise and immeasurably powerful. It became her fervent wish to create events that celebrated haiku (and humanity). Thus the Guerilla Haiku Movement was born! …And the Haiku Mistress gratefully continues to celebrate! 
We are the Guerilla Haiku Movement; a cadre of artists, fun-lovers, and fools that use sidewalk chalk and the ancient Japanese poetic tradition of Haiku to tell our stories and the stories of our communities inside of one moment. Check out our events page to join us in a city near you!
