GHM: Arlington Public Library Teen Zone

Arlington Library is doing great things with teen programming across the city, and the Teen Zone in Northeast Arlington has created a safe, and supportive environment for their after school youth mainly due to their incredible leader, Veronica, and the dedicated presence of local mom, Maria. When Veronica invited Guerilla Haiku in to do some Haikuing around the library after school, I could not say no, despite the darkening skies. (Even in Texas the night descends sooner in Winter). The result of our 2 hours at the Library was an initially hesitant group of teens writing, drawing and creating...

TeamBuilding USA, the sponsor for Guerilla Haiku’s Texas Tour is affiliated with the CityLife Youth Group and partnered me with them to facilitate an event in and around the Bedford, TX area. This dynamic and creative group of teens, teen leaders, and supportive adults wreaked haiku havoc in the malls, parks and sidewalks of Bedford and its environs. Enjoy the Top Photos!! Pizza Delivery Boy Writes...

We wrote haiku about vendors, and small businesses over on Lamar- and tried to get them to play as well, but our most exciting moment happened between two sisters who initially needed parking, but returned to write haiku. The elder sister approached me and asked if she could write a sister-tribute. “I’ve been having a...

GHM wins Jersey City Art Eat Up!!

ProArts in Jersey City is an organization that cares about the intersection of Art and Community.  Clearly they are kindred spirits!   They host Quarterly Art Eat Up events where a number of artists present their projects to a host of assembled community members at a communal dinner.  At the end of the evening everyone votes on one project that they want to support.  And the profits from the evening go to fund the project with the most votes. There was a small but attentive and energized crowd in attendance.  5 wonderful projects; Guerilla Haiku (of course), Not Yo’ Mama’s...

Spring Event Dates

Spring’s emerging – but a March spent further South – Speeds it all along. Oh dear, Ladies and Gentlemen, winter is purportedly in full swing (though you wouldn’t think so with all of the no-jacket wearing happening in the Northeast right now), and Guerilla Haiku is gearing up for it’s second season of haiku adventures.  Hooray! On the Agenda: New Orleans and Orange, NJ and Manhattan, with Boston and another stint in Philadelphia in serious contemplation.  Give us reasons to head your way, and we shall endeavor to do it! But first- New Orleans.  Oh the magic...
